The port strike is over and the containers have arrived. Time to put all those goodies on sale just in time for you to spend that tax refund (hah or just dig your self into a deeper hole!). Either way you should ride out of this one on a new bike.
The Spring Fling Sale is back!
There is no better time to buy a bike. I'm not being hyperbolic here just because we are having a sale; I'm being honest--bicycles, fat or skinny, just don't go on sale very often. It also doesn't hurt that we have a sweet promotion going on with Cannondale and Garmin during this sale. Buy an EVO or CAAD10, get a Garmin. Wow.
10 to 20% off all bikes from Cannondale, Giant, Brompton, Spot, All-City, Surly, Salsa, Handsome, and Papillionaire.
25% off all apparel from Levi's, Castelli, Giro New Road, Illadora, and more!
20% off all bags from Ortlieb, Brooks England, North Street, Chrome, and Vaude.

30% off all sunglasses from SPY.
20% off Brooks Saddles
30% off all lights
25% off gloves

Cannondale is doing a super cool promotion until the end of May that we are happy to present to you all. Purchase of either a SuperSix EVO (the world's smoothest carbon road bike) or a CAAD10 (the world's smoothest aluminum road bike) comes with a free Garmin from Cannondale. The deal is a little different depending on whether you go carbon or aluminum.
IF you purchase a CAAD10, you get a Garmin Edge 200 ($129). If you purchase a SuperSix EVO, you get a Garmin Edge 510 ($329). If you're not sure what a Garmin is, well it is basically really fun toy to put on your really fun toy. It's a GPS-enabled bike computer. Both models track your GPS position as well as speed, distance, and time. The Edge 510 is a touchscreen computer with more features like compatibility with ANT+ heartrate monitors, power meters, and cadence sensors.
This is one of the coolest promos we've seen from Cannondale, so if you are on the fence about getting a new road bike, now is the time to do it. It applies to any model SuperSix Evo or CAAD10, whether or not it is on our sales floor. But we do have a good representation of standard and hi-mod EVOs as well as CAAD10s on the floor.

We're happy to announce our newest line of bikes and this one's a real Huckleberry.
Shinola is a Detroit-based company dedicated to producing American-made products, including watches, leather goods, journals, shoe polish, and of course bicycles. They pride themselves on the return of American manufacturing.
Shinola bikes come with a deep pedigree. They’re designed and spec’d by Sky Yaeger, whose resume includes Swobo, Spot, and Bianchi, where she conceived the Milano townie and iconic Pista track frame. She has paved the way for women’s cycling and a force for good in the bicycle industry.

The frames are hand-made by Richard Schwinn’s Waterford Precision Cycles, 4th generation of the iconic Schwinn Bicycles family. Sky and Waterford have teamed up with Shinola to breathe life back into the American Industry one bicycle at a time.

What's YOUR dream bike ?
We pride ourselves in helping people find the bike that is just right for them, weather that's a factory build or a completely custom order. We love people who come to us and have a dream bike they want to build. Helen Chi loved her bike but wasn't completely satisfied with the original color scheme. She had an idea to paint her bike based on the colors of one of her favorite outfits with the ‘brass knuckle’ logo from her former brand... of course, we wanted to help.
We soon got her bike prepped for the painting; she worked with Joe at Carbon Solutions in Watsonville to get the colors just right. Naturally, we were all blown away by the quality and attention to detail put into the painting. We rebuilt, tuned and fit her bike perfectly to her riding style. Needless to say... Helen walked out with the bike she had always wanted.
Inspired by Helen's favorite jacket and bag combo @carbonsolutions worked with her to make her ideas come alive.
Before and after
'This looks as nice as a factory build...'
The frame was rebuilt by our mechanics and fit for a perfect ride.

Coming in limited quantities at the end of October, and available for pre-order now.
Look closely and you'll find Coastal Redwood Trees, Grizzly Bears, and California Quail.
The matchy leg-band print really ties the kit together.
We worked with our friends at Castelli to design and produce this custom kit that we feel represents our California. As much as we love Yacht Rock, you wont find any palm trees here.

Boom. They are here and they are beautiful. The new Faraday Cortland. The nicest-looking electric-assist bike just got a little nicest-looking-er. Does that make sense? I don't know, but the new Faraday Cortland is seriously even more beautiful than its predecessor.
Here is a little fact for ya folks: The electric bike market is the fastest-growing segment of the bike industry right now. Why? Because if you get on a bike like the Faraday, you will smile like a little kid. These bikes are so darn fun it should be illegal. Faradays and other e-bikes are changing people's lives, allowing many to finally live the dream of biking for daily transportation. Let's face it, there are a lot of obstacles to biking for daily utility purposes: hills, sweat, time, physical limitations, and so on. The Faraday can overcome all of those obstacles.
As like last year, Faraday is offering this bike in two versions. The internally geared version is $3500, and the "S" model Cortland with the external shifting is $2500. Both bikes ride better than any other electric-assist bike out there!
See our original review of the Faraday here.
And if you'd like to join us on a ride up Twin Peaks on one just click here.
We sell these bikes at our stores in San Francisco and Berkeley. We have demo models that customers can reserve for and take the bike out for an overnight date, kind of like in The Bachelor. It is important to point out that, like many bikes these days, Faradays are sold online directly from Faraday. BUT, you should definitely buy the Faraday through one of our shops. Why? The price of the Faraday is the same no matter where you purchase it. The difference is, when you buy your Faraday from us, you receive a free year of tune-ups on the bike and we generally will be your point of contact for any technical or warranty issues that come up.
Call us or send us an email to inquire about the Faraday!

Well Huckleberries, it's that time of year again. Get your bottle rockets and sparklers ready, July is here! Cyclists celebrate the Tour de France, Americans celebrate Independence day (great movie), and the French celebrate Bastille day (not a great movie). I'm sure some other countries have some other holidays in July, I'm just under-informed. But I know that for Huckleberry Bicycles, July is the time for a Sale.
Now through July 26th, all road bikes are on sale!
We want to hook you up with a sweet new whip so you can get out and ride this summer.
The 2016 model year is winding down, and we have some incredible deals on 2016 road bikes. Anything 2015 and older is on closeout. Some crazy good deals to be had here. Check out our closeouts page for the best bike bargains.
For Example, we have a Giant TCR with Ultegra Di2 on sale for $2195. That's less than half price!! You'd be losing money if you didn't buy this bike...
The weather is heating up, the days are long, and the Tour de France is starting. It's time to get up at 4am and watch Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwin fumble through the day's broadcast incoherently pretending to still be relevant. Or you can get up at 7 and watch the last few kilometers on steephill.tv ...
We have amazing deals on all Cannondale road bikes, including the Supersix Evo, the Synapse, and the CAAD12.
[caption id="attachment_6074" align="alignleft" width="725"]

The 2016 Supersix Evo HiMod Ultegra is the $4000 cure for FOMO. And it's on sale for $3495![/caption]
It's time to see if Peter Sagan can finally win another tour stage, to see if they find the motor in someone's bike. To see if an American like Cannondale's Andrew Talansky can win a stage, or maybe even the whole thing. There will be so much drama to watch, you'll wanna skip the Bachelor. If you don't have cable, get your friend to give you their comcast login so you can watch on your ipad.
The All City Mr. Pink is not a TDF race bike, but it's one of our favorites here at Huckleberry.
So you'll be watching the Tour de France. You're going to see some incredible performances on the bike. After all that vicarious projection you'll have some serious FOMO. You will be inspired. It's going to be time to get out and ride.
[caption id="attachment_6711" align="alignleft" width="900"]
The Cannondale Slate Ultegra, a $3300 do-it-all whip on sale for $2995. Man. Dang. Dude.[/caption]
There will be no more excuses. El Nino is over, at least for now, so no chance of getting rained out.
[caption id="attachment_6879" align="alignleft" width="946"]
Don't worry ladies, we have a great selection of women's specific road bikes. The $2100 Women's Evo 105 is on sale for $1795! [/caption]
The snow has melted so you can hang up your skis. If you want to hit some slopes, it'll have to be on two wheels. Look no further than Grizzly Peak, Mt. Tam, and Mt. Diablo. In July, just about anywhere in California is good for road biking.
[caption id="attachment_6700" align="alignleft" width="1024"]
The illusive and at times imaginary Salsa Cutthroat. A $3000 Great-Divide adventure bike on sale for $2695. Only one in stock![/caption]
In addition to the sale on road bikes, we have some great deals on some road components and accessories. If you want some great tires, or a new saddle, or some road pedals, we have you covered.
Performance Shoes: 20% off.
remaining Sidi shoes 40% off
Clipless pedals 20% off
Vittoria Corsa G+ tires 700x25 and 700x28 $49
Cannondale Teramo Helmets $69
Cannondale Cypher Helmets $99

POC Trabec helmets 40% off
Giro Synthe Mips helmets $199
So come on down to Huckleberry Town! We have two great locations, great staff, and a great selection of bikes. Our road bikes start around $800 and go up from there. If we don't have what you're looking for, we'll order it for you and still give you a sale price! Bike buyers can look forward to a year of free service on the bike, plus a free trainer fit by one of our bike fit gurus.
We hope you enjoy the tour, whether you buy a new bike from us or not. Just remember that in a few months it will be raining again. So don't forget to enjoy yourself while you can.

~ The most fun and impactful way to give back in San Francisco this season ~
For us cyclists (even mellow ones), there's a great event every year that has always grown in size and it's an event that you can do on your bike! The Supermarket Street Sweep which benefits the SF-Marin Food Bank is a go-your-own-pace no-entry-fee alleycat bike race that harkens back to your childhood days of watching contestants run into each other on the Supermarket Sweep.
In the same vein, you'll ride your bike to certain checkpoints(which will be released to you at the start of the race on a "manifest") pick up particular food items, load them into your gigantic backpack, save the receipt, and then onto the next supermarket! Similar to a day of messenger-ing, this particular race can be run at your own pace, making multiple stops before finally unloading at the food bank and enjoying a well-earned meal and a beer with your comrades. This year, the 11th annual SMSW will be held on Saturday December 3rd, 2016.
Each year, SMSW has outdone itself and despite the number of riders, they've grown in both amount of food brought in and also in the amount of money raised. In 2006, they raised around 1200 lbs of food. Last year they were able to bring in a whopping 12,000 lbs of food in addition to the $13,194 raised. You can see the details here. That's just under 40,000 meals! And despite the move of organizer Jenny Oh and the handover of leadership from Jonathan Koshi to a whole new host of people headed up by the wonderful Jenn Chan and Tom Hood among others; SMSW will go into it's 11th year still on a roll.
There are four ways to give during this alleycat; Donation, Points, Cargo, or Team. Your entry fee is the money spent on the food and the differences between the categories are highlighted below.
Before the race begins, you can hit the streets and ask for donations. Money helps the Foodbank in addition to the food brought in by the racers. In San Francisco, we have enough startups that are looking for write-offs(maybe even your own) that this category is always competitive. For every single $1 raised, the Foodbank can offer 3 meals.
The Points race is individuals racing by themselves and attempting to hit as many "checkpoints"(supermarkets) as possible; each checkpoint is worth a certain amount of points according to how far away from the Foodbank it is. There is usually a South San Francisco and a Sausalito checkpoint that are both worth the most points.
The Cargo category is exactly what it sounds like. Haul a ton of food on your cargo bike to the Food bank. This category is measured in pounds. Better make sure you've got the legs; because the final destination is over a hill!
The Team category is new as of last year. You must pre-register, but you can have up to 5 team members. You get one manifest per team, and you can split up, but you must purchase enough at each checkpoint for the entire team (including separate receipts!). And last year even though it was new, the Team Category by itself brought in almost half of the 12,000lbs of food! So grab your friends and get ready to pre-register for this!
"According to the Food Security Task Force’s (FSTF) Assessment of Food Security in San Francisco (2013), 261,619 (or approximately 1 in 4) people in San Francisco and Marin make less than 200% of the FPL and are consequently at risk of being food insecure, and the sub-populations especially vulnerable to food insecurity include seniors and adults with disabilities, children and families, and people who are homeless."
Check out the SF-Marin Foodbank Website.
Last year, that number was 1 in 6 people. With the recent events in our local and federal elections, we can't ignore the growing number of people that will need assistance. Give what you can; if all that is, is time and effort, give that instead of money. Through school lunch programs, meals for seniors and giving to local non-profit pantries and other community partners, the SF-Marin FoodBank is responsible for helping over 225,000 people.
As if you needed a reason to give back, this race also traditionally has some of the nicest SWAG and prizes that I've ever seen; Ruthworkssf, The Willary, Timbuk2, in addition to your very favorite bike shop (that's us.. btw), have donated quite a few items. Ride in with the most food and ride away with the most swag. It's as if the whole cycling industry WANTS you to give back.

Check out the Rider Profiles - Adam Shapiro of Bike Link East Bay on their page for a few tips on past races and keep checking for more tips from other riders like Zack Morvant and Sean Sevilla, and what they are looking to do for this years race! Here's the link. What are you waiting for? Sign up today!
