"1.21 gigawatts! 1.21 gigawatts. Great Scott!" --Doc Brown
I was trying to think of a fun way to tell everyone that Huckleberry Bicycles now stocks Ebikes. We haven't always had Faraday or Bionx bikes in stock, but now we do. That made me think about how things change. It got me thinking about the future. And that got me thinking about Back to the Future.
When Marty McFly gets back from his little trip back to 1955, he wakes to discover that he has a cooler dad, a milfier mom, and a rad pickup truck in the garage.
Huey Lewis is still cool. Biff is a loser.
At first Marty thinks Delorean time travel was just a dream.....
Then Doc Brown picks him up in a (now flying) Delorean and takes him to the future. Back to the Future, part 2. And in that future the year is 2015. Hey man--that's like literally this year!
The "2015" that the producers of BTtF2 predicted had hover-boards, flying cars, and robotic animatronic everything. It's like they got their ideas during a 1983 trip to Epcot Center or something. As a result the movie suffers from a fair bit of suckiness. Perhaps this was a ploy to make the third installment, BTtF3, seem better and more watchable than it actually is. The better of two shitty options, but I digress.
The producers had to guess, in 1983 or so, what things would be like for us today. And boy were they way off!
Marty saw this:
A Hoverboard.
When he should have been seeing something more like this:
A Faraday Porteur
Doc was driving Marty around in this:
When it would have been more accurate to put him on one of these:
Great Scott!!
Well folks, rest assured. Our selection at Huckleberry Bicycles is a reflection of the true innovations of our time. I'm talking about Ebikes baby. The Future is now, and it's a Future with Ebikes. Since we still don't have flying supercars that run on garbage, we're going to have to find a more sensible way to navigate our crowded cities. Got kids? Got crap? Got a long commute? Are you old and crusty like me? Great Scott!! An Ebike could make your life a lot better.
The Faraday is a beautiful Ebike. Our service manager, Mikey, did a great post about it awhile back. You can read about it here. Faraday is our simplest option, you just buy the complete bike. It comes in 3 sizes, it comes in two colors. You can get it with or without the front porteur rack. Pretty simple really. And it rides great. Since Mike's post last October, Faraday has had time to produce more bikes, and we're going to have them in stock! No need to pre-order!
Huckleberry also has BionX. Bionx makes kits that can be installed on a variety of bicycles. So we could help you supe up a bike you already own, or we could help you select a new bike that would mate well with Bionx. Depending on your budget, Bionx offers a range of kits with different motors and batteries. Our Demo bike will give you a great idea what Bionx is all about.
Our BionX Equipped Cannondale Contro.
While the producers of BTtF2 were off about a few things, they were't totally wrong. We do have Facetime and Skype. We do eat way too much pizza. And, luckily, now you can actually get a pair these:
If an Ebike is what you're after, then come on down to Huckleberry Town and test ride one today.
See you in the Future.

The smart folks over at Brompton have gifted the world with an amazing online bike customization tool that allows you to BYOB -- build your own Brompton! Whereas most bike models only come in one or two colors, and customers are at the mercy of what the manufacturer has in stock, with Bromptons you can have it your way.
The application is simple to use and produces some epic color combinations on these little folding beauties. We've had dozens of customers create their own Bromptons and then place their orders through us. All you have to to is login to the application, create an account, build a Brompton, and give us the special reference code that it spits out. We put the order in, and the Brompton shows up in about a month.
So if you are thinking about getting a Brompton, start here.

We have our first shipment of Cannondale's new 2015 Synapse with SRAM Rival, disc brakes, and.... FENDERS! Yes. We love a bike with fenders. We got our first chance to see this bike live at Cannondale dealer camp last year -- that's where we go to check out all the awesome developments in Cannondale's product line and drink a lot of beer. It's somewhere beautiful in Utah, and as it turns out, I got a chance to take out a Synapse on a great ride. What a joy! The Synapse was my first real road bike and my first love.
Cannondale calls it, "Quite possibly, the first perfect road bike." That is a lot to live up to, but the Synapse has already proven itself, year-after-year, as one of the best all-around road bikes on the market. It doesn't hurt that this bike, in addition to sporting sweet matching fenders, has hydraulic disc brakes, not mechanical. As disc brakes start to take-off for road bikes, you are going to prefer the action on a hydraulic brake way more than the mechanical types.
We have a range of sizes for this bike and limited availability. You can see the full specs of the bike here. So as usual, come on down to Hucklebery and test ride yours today!

Our friend Dannyboy from Let It Bleed Tattoo Parlor in San Francisco put his tattoo skills to fine use on a Honey Brown Brooks B17 Saddle. This is hopefully going to be the first of a series of tattooed Brooks Saddles. This is the first one -- a real treasure. Come in and check it out or buy it online here. Stay tuned for more!

Attention!
We have a very special Ramble lined up this Saturday.
Ammon Skidmore and Dan Winterberg will lead us on an epic adventure. Covering trails that none of us have ever had access to, we’ll head south through Milagra Ridge, then up to Sweeney Ridge and then do an out-and-back through the Watershed (!!!!!) to end the ride at Southern Pacific Brewery.
https://www.strava.com/routes/2484761
Due to SF Watershed rules we are limited to a group of 15. Therefore we will have a splinter group peel off at Sweeney Ridge and head back to SF via the Southbound route we did a few months ago (up Planet of the Apes, down Gray Whale Trail, back via Devil’s Slide & Pacifica). Please RSVP asap to ramble@huckleberrybicycles.com and include your name and city of residence. The first 15 who rsvp will get access to the Watershed trails. All others will take the splinter route and meet up with the Watershed group back at Southern Pacific. You will get a prompt response as to whether or not you made it into the Watershed group.
Meet at Huckleberry at 8:00am, Saturday 6/20. Pastries and coffee supplied by Vive La Tarte.
Ride heads out at 8:30am sharp!
